We boarded the plane at Some people on the plane were going to Oakland and had already missed their connections were given option of staying in hotel in NY or staying in hotel in Detroit.
Then they reboarded. It was a fiasco and killed enough time that the NW route closed because of a bad storm and it took a while to reroute us. Was horrible. Cons: "It was delayed so much that I had to re-book so that I wouldn't be stranded on my connection waiting on standby.
Last time I flew with Spirit, their delays made me miss my connection and was stranded overnight. So I guess that Spirit's poor planning and delays mean that I will either have to pay double or be stranded, but at least I know that with Spirit I can always count on being late. Problem is, we drove 9 hours from Salt Lake City to Denver in order to get these cheap flights.
We were headed to visit family and had things scheduled for the next day, including tickets to a baseball game. They told us we had to wait 24 hours for their next flight out, and by this point we weren't sure that flight wouldn't be cancelled as well. They said it was due to "weather" and "air traffic congestion", yet literally every other airline still flew their planes out of Denver that night. It basically translates into: "Here at Spirit we're the lowest on the totem pole.
We then read thousands of negative reviews about this airline and their frequent cancellations, horrible customer service, etc. So now we're stuck in Denver with nowhere to stay. We ended up feeling more comfortable booking tickets with a legitimate airliner for the following morning, and had to get a hotel for the night. In the long run it ended up costing us a few hundred more dollars to get to our destination so that we could still do the things we'd had planned.
Oh also, they didn't even call us or anything about the cancellation. One of us just happened to check our email and we noticed the flight cancellation.

No call or email, just went to print tickets and they were not there. They gave a refund but required that I book through another company which cost a few hundred dollars more since it was last minute.
Set my trip back by 13 hours. In addition my car company canceled on me since I was late and I could not find an alternative. My return flight on Spirit was delayed and I did not have a seat until the plane was boarding not to mention the extravagant fees for baggage and lack of refreshments on a 5 hour flight.

I was traveling with my kids, so I had to pay for all of them.
I booked my flights with Spirit before and never had that issue, yet this time I was not happy about how things went. I told the staff by the bagging area, that online it says something different and she told me sorry I cant do anything about it.
I told her I didn't bring that much money with me, but that didn't matter. I had to call my friend to pay with credit card for my bags. Pros: "The only thing I liked was getting off that plane. They sat me in the very back row by the wall, where there's no window. I was literally sitting in the corner.
The flight attendant was a funny gay guy who spent more time flirting with a passenger on the plane than anything else. He made it apparent he didn't wanna be bothered by anyone else.
The flight was extremely turbulent the entire way. Which made it hard to even nap after boarding 3 hours late. I couldn't look out a window I couldn't nap I couldn't read because of the turbulence They didn't even offer complimentary snacks or beverages, we had to pay to eat or drink.
But at least nobody dragged me off the plane, so that's a plus. I will never fly Spirit again! Also, they changed our gate 3 times and as a result our luggage didn't leave with us. It came in on a different flight the next day. Also, check in was really slow! No communication, I stood in line for 15 minutes only to hear someone say something about a cancelled flight, so I asked if this was a "make up" flight.
And it was, no notice or signs or anything. I almost missed my flight. Pros: "The flights themselves were both on time and smoothly done in spite of gusty weather at both ends of the flight. The boarding for both flights was reasonably short and efficient. As far as comfort goes, you don't expect that at Spirit unless you pay extra and we won't just for that. Crew did their jobs well but see dislikes. We received timely information from the deck crew as well. Cons: "There were unnecessary and lame attempts at humor by both boarding clerks and on-board attendants.
If you think you are a stand-up comedian, seek a different career path. I know others may find it amusing and I understand the need for finding distractions from routine, but it can distract from useful information, especially during boarding. NOTE: some people do funny by nature, but it is not a universal talent.
When it's natural, it's a great good, but if not Spirit also requires a constant sales pitch for their credit card at the end of every flight that becomes irritating and I'm sure is not pleasant for the crew, either.

Lastly, it took an eternity for them to unload the luggage from the plane. I waited in the airport for over an hour both times. All that is bad, but to top it off, my flight was delayed and this somehow caused massive confusion at the Atlanta airport.
The gate attendant said it was delayed, but the airport monitors said the flight had already left! Some passengers but not everyone got an email saying that the plane would not land for 9 hours after it was scheduled, even though the delay was only for 2 hours. I have no idea what went wrong, but it was very confusing and stressful. In all, Spirit airlines is only inexpensive if you have no luggage and you don't want any food, beverage, or entertainment during the flight. Pros: "Flight on time.
Cons: "Flight attendant was so mean. I did not get a chance to ask who she is or her name was at that time. I was traveling with my family including my mother who is almost 80 years old and was seated farther away from me.
I stood up to check on her as she was having shortness of breath when we boarded. I stood up 15 minutes after we took off although the seat belt sign was on to check on my mother, I knew I need to stay at my seat but I have to check on my mother.
It could have been better if she asked what's going on and why I need to stand. That's not my expectation of a flight attendant as she should be there to assist and provide support if needed. She could have asked me if I need help. I believed she is also the flight attendant who was using the overhead mic to give instructions to the passengers.
She is not fit to where she is at. I believed that there still a lot of people that were very disappointed at her. I hope nobody dies in the plane where she is at as her act of negligence,rudeness , discourteous is not acceptable.
Cons: "The website to pre-check bags and pick seats were deceitful. Then I asked if I would've left the desk and went on my phone and ordered a heavier bag price would it have been cheaper? I thought I was getting a deal and ended up paying what I would have if I went directily on their website to get full price for a plane that gave you free drinks and snacks and free checked bag.
