Filofax store new york city
Second, I see their 'retro' version as cost-saving manufacturing. No lining, only 2 card slits, and not even a full notepad, to me, scream how they're willing to cut costs and quality to produce an inferior model but emotionally makes people nostalgic.
Third, I just don't feel the company has listened to ANY of our suggestions in the online community. We've asked for classic styles. Classic styles have more than 2 credit card areas, high quality leather, and a zip pouch Finally, I'm just frustrated at how the whole line seems to be geared for high school teenyboppers. Fancy Domino or High Brow Apex is more like it. Steve, is this it for the new range? Or are they still holding some back for the fall? Oooh I quite like this lovely one, though I agree with others I'm in between the brown and green, maybe one in personal and one in A5!
Thanks for the review Steve very helpful! I have one, size personal in green, since 3 days, not in daily use yet. I think it's great, like the eleastic band, the leather and its stitching, the little jot pad instead of a notepad except the refill are exprensive. I'm confident for its durability, especially for the standard ones, not so sure for the patent ones. The only, and big, disappointment, is the inside of pockets for cards and jot pad are not closed, no lining behind.
A great fail As if it has no room for bits like an Apex?! I dislike the package too, a simple transparent plastic sleeve, I would have prefer a cardboard sleeve like in the middle range.
So, THIS is the long anticipated news on new inserts? CC design on white paper? No chance of ever getting tabbed monthlies then, huh? Despite our begging for several years now? This is a review of the Original Judith.. I admit, those new inserts were featured in Lauries review But I notice you didn't have your little moan on Laurie's review about the lack of your precious tabbed monthlies Clearly, because I reserve my complaining exclusively for Philofaxy, Steve!
Well to each his own as they say I actually like the grommets on the outside for this model. It seems to fit. This model reminds me so much of Cambridge and other satchels that are, like it or not, very on trend at the moment. I like it. I'm not sure about the internal layout as I prefer more card slots and not super keen on the band but I would like to see it in person.
I'm very drawn to the patent Lol as far as its bent towards the young They've dabbled in fashion, now the younger market I'd say they are covering their bases and some will fail, some may succeed as in all product launches. Time will tell. They really nailed the proportions on the A5 size.
Looking back and forth between Laurie's and Steve's reviews, I note that the closure looks too big on the personal but perfection on the A5. The button on the snap is also more appropriately proportioned on the A5. Most A5 filos look awkward to me. This one doesn't. Good job filofax!
Omg I really want to order a few of these in personal size.. It's been a long time since I've been tempted to get a new filofax but the fact that it's just one big beautiful piece of leather really draws me in. Love the simple details. Not bad. Very pleasant outside appearance, variety of color choices and a nice thick piece of leather. Please get rid of the elastic internal strap and put a proper standard leather pen loop s on.
The internal leather should be all in one color. I wonder if it would be more durable it the leather wasn't polished and the natural full grain of the leather was exposed? All products in the store give a bit of zen aura, in that simplicity and purity dominate the conceptual design.

The only downside of it is that it is difficult to find refills. I thought about making my own, but for those of you who know me well, I cannot draw straight lines to save my life, let alone make 6 holes in a straight line.
To my surprise, I found one at Muji that fits! Better yet, there are also dot-grid note pages that will fit nicely in the agenda. Needless to say, I quick grab several packages of the agenda refills and a pack of dot-grid note paper.
Compare to most agenda refills, the Muji one is very plain. It only has days of the week printed, and it is customizable in that you can fill in the date and year, so it will never expire. Some opine that these pages are too puritan in appearance, but I thought the empty space can easily be a place to exercise creativity. Borders and little doodles can be done on the border and margin.
You can also use stickers to embellish the pages. Frank-N-Furter of Filos isn't exactly their fault! My main thought is that the front page there looks fantastic, and is probably going to appeal to people who wouldn't think of making their own custom inserts, and that I like the black dividers with gold print If the guinea was in pocket i'd buy it.. Yes, i'm one of those people that just jots appointments and a few telephonenumbers down in their filofax. And so what? Isn't that their primary usage?
I think having a phone pocket is a practical idea, although by the time you'd unzipped it the person on the other end would have hung up.. If i had an affair ha! I'm not married id be scared that the little bits of rubbish that accumulate at the bottom of my bag would get under the lace. I have to say there is something about them that appeals, although it isn't the price tag!
Do we know anything about the other range their doing? Steve mentioned it a while ago and the implication was that they would be cheaper. Do we know what they will be like? Sizes etc? I do like the inserts in these so am hoping they could be bought separately or at least in the cheaper range. Although this product obviously wasn't aimed at me, there are two things that I think the Filofax people consider.
Firstly, this novel positioning of the binder mechanism could well be the answer to the problem of getting cheap leather to lie flat in the way that the arguably better quality filofaxes used to do before production was outsourced. Secondly, facing the pockets outwards makes things so much easier if you're trying to use a filofax as a purse or wallet hasn't anyone at Filofax realised this before.
Finally, although this Filofax is eye wateringly expensive, the extra revenue generated helps to keep my local library open. I think they've missed a marketing trick though - if they had offered a bespoke boutique style insert filling service they could have sold it for a lot more.
Remember when we used to personalise our filofax binders? Give them cute little pet names? Or think about their profession? Well - to me at least - those two Temperfaxes with all their lace and nude skin colours and bling are obviously working in the worlds oldest profession Well said, Jotje! And it made me laugh : My Malden just doesn't mix in the same social circles as them, I think. For me, it's a mix. Putting aside the price because I can't afford one, I like some things design-wise about both but find neither really suited for what I do with a filofax.
