Columbus dispatch postcards

Has anyone else heard of this set? If so, could you post any examples you might have? One of my favorite hobby collectibles is postcard sets like Dietsche, Cincinnati, Gold medal Flour etc. I don't really know how to post my own pictures yet or I would post what I just picked up. Find all posts by Archive.

Fairly common card. I've not seen any of the other 15 subjects and suspect they may not be baseball related. Hulswitt, Clymer, Berger and Pinkering appear on the card. Posted By: Zach Rice These postcards were issued during and were available by redeeming a coupon found in the Columbus Dispatch. The Columbus Dispatch was and still is the largest newspaper in Columbus, Ohio. A total of 16 cards make up the set and only two are baseball related.

The team image of the Columbus team is by far more common than the other image which depicts an in-progress game Columbus vs. The other 14 subjects are landmark buildings around Columbus and are commonly found.

Posted By: Rob Dewolf I live in Columbus and work at The Dispatch, as a matter of fact and see these quite often at antique shows, shops, etc. The one that Steve posted is the only one I've seen that's baseball related. If these were at all rare, I'd have already snooped around old storage closets, looking for a few unopen cases. But they're not, so I haven't. This is completely anecdotal, but in the eight-plus years I've lived in Columbus, I guess I've seen the team photo for sale close to 20 times.

But Mount Carmel is far from being the only recipient of Mauck's handiwork. She also makes and sends cards to the children of the Catholic parishes back in her Appalachian home county of Belmont, along the Ohio River in eastern Ohio, makes cards for groups of veterans who take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.

And she also sends hundreds of cards a year to Beverly Peyton, who for several years has run Operation: Card Angels out of her home in Kettering. Not only does the card ministry send notes to U. Last year, the organization shipped almost 30, cards. And when a soldier receives our cards with messages inside, it just touches their hearts. Mauck said she tries to work on a different craft project every day, because a little kindness to others goes such a long way.

So when she isn't shopping with her daughters or babysitting her 5- and 8-year-old grandchildren, she is crocheting lap blankets for shut-ins and baby hats to give to mothers in need, and baking elaborate cakes and cookies that would rival those on any cooking show — all to donate, of course.
